Bill’s Guide to picking up a mooring ball in 25 knot winds
in a crowded anchorage.
Step 1: Lose the boathook overboard
Step 2: Abandon ship. Leave the women and children behind.
Step 3: Attempt to run your husband over with the boat.
Step 4: Attempt to pull the 5 ton sailboat to the mooring
ball by swimming. Make sure you have your fins. (Note: it doesn’t work if you
don’t).
Step 5. Tie the line to the mooring ball. Use any knot. You can
fix it later.
Step 6. Smile for the cameras.
Step 7. Gratefully accept the retrieved boathook from the (laughing)
Slovenians.
Step 8. Give the Slovenians all your beer.
