This little piggy cried 'oui, oui, oui' all the way home

We are home!

Our house feels so big right now.  After living on a boat and out of hotel rooms and as a guest in someone's home, having so many rooms feels really luxurious!

We had a wonderful trip and have many great memories.  Our favorite parts were the unexpected discoveries.  In Croatia, we liked everything! We particularly appreciated the Island of Mljet and really loved our meal at Marco's little restaurant.  The major highlight in Venice was the Vivaldi Concert.  We also enjoyed the Peggy Guggenheim Museum. In Florence, we loved our first taste of truffles, the Duomo and the very extensive Uffizi Museum.   The Cinque Terre coast is so beautiful. We definitely want to go back when we have time to walk more of the paths between the towns. In France, we were very impressed with the D-Day Museums.  We also found the Bayoux Tapestry very interesting.  And, of course, we loved the Isle of Callot.  Definitely want to go back to visit again.

The only part of the trip that was consistently disappointing was traveling from location to location.  Boats, trains and planes were all more difficult to use than we expected.  But we could live with that.

All of the people we met were gracious and welcoming.  And very accomodating of our language limitations.

Thank-you to everyone who has read this blog.  It has been fun to keep as an alternative to a travel journal.  I will probably post more pictures when I get my act together but now home chores await. Our summer vacation is over just as most other people's begins.

To my local friends, I would love to see you!  I feel like I have been gone a very long time and would love to hear what has been happening in your lives while we were gone.
